In 2023, following a successful and award-winning run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Top Ten Jokes of the Fringe, Poster of the Year Award), Bennett was about to work on a TV project, write a new book and perform at various venues around the world. Then, for the first time ever, he began to suffer from anxiety and depression. His life fell apart. He had to cancel everything and he couldn’t even leave his house.
Two years later, Bennett returned to the Festival with a show based on his experiences. The funny, poignant, moving and relatable show played to full houses and was critically acclaimed.
Serious moments generously balanced by laugh-out-loud observational comedy **** Broadway Baby
Bennett is a talented story teller. Despite the heavy subject matters covered, Bennett exhibits charm and humour throughout. **** One4Review
Bennett now speaks on the subject at conferences, dinners and to companies. In the talk, he discusses how the negative things in our past can catch up with us at any time and how the consequences of this can be devastating. However there is a positive message, as Bennett also explains how he managed to eventually learn from, and move on from, what happened to him – and how the sharing of this understanding can benefit others.
Bennett spoke at our annual dinner and was brilliant! He kept the audience laughing whilst talking about mental health. From an organisers point of view I was delighted, because not only was Bennett funny (I had seasoned dinner attendees singing his praises), but he understood the sensitivities of the audience and so I felt like I was in really safe hands. Bennett was the first major victim of ID theft in the UK. The painful experience eventually became comedy material. He wrote and presented a Channel-4 documentary on the subject in which he stole the ID of the Home Secretary. The programme was shortlisted for a BAFTA and achieved a change in the law. You can watch it here
Bennett now shares his experience with companies and speaks at conferences around the world.
He was a Keynote Speaker to 2,000 delegates at the AUScert conference in Brisbane and he was the Guest Speaker at the International Fraud Convention in Rome and at the Security Forum in Cape Town. The International Congress on Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption in Poland has invited him twice. Bennett recently received an Unsung Hero Award for his work in Fraud and Cyber Security.
Info Security. Talks. Videos. In-house and tailored.
Bennett speaks directly to teams and makes training videos for organisations. An injection of comedy and his personal story help to engage people and bring human truth to a subject that can sometimes be a little dry.
